Translation services
Your patient information, in the languages your patients read.
Leaflets, letters, discharge advice, forms and signage – translated, produced in accessible formats, and assured through the same process as the clinical content inside our platform. Available to any healthcare organisation, whether or not you license CardMedic.
The conversation is interpreted. The paperwork is not.
Most organisations have a contract covering spoken interpreting, and almost nothing covering what the patient is handed, posted or asked to sign. So the appointment is understood and the aftercare advice is not, and the patient who cannot read the leaflet is the one who comes back.
Under the Accessible Information Standard, identifying a communication need also means meeting it – in the format the person can use. Written material is where that duty is most often unmet, because there is rarely a route to get it done.
What we translate
Your material, not ours. We work from documents your organisation has already written and approved.
-
Patient information leaflets
Condition, procedure and medication information, including the leaflets your specialties have written themselves.
-
Appointment and pathway letters
Invitations, preparation instructions, reminders and the letters that explain what happens next.
-
Discharge and aftercare advice
What to expect, what to watch for, and when to seek help – the information most often given only verbally, in English.
-
Consent support materials
Explanatory information that helps a patient understand a procedure before the conversation. The consent discussion itself stays with the clinician.
-
Service and screening information
Programme invitations, eligibility information and the material that decides whether someone takes part at all.
-
Forms, signage and wayfinding
Questionnaires, admission forms and the printed and on-screen wording patients meet before anyone speaks to them.
Languages and formats
Translation alone does not reach everyone. A patient with low literacy, a learning disability, sight loss or a first language that is signed needs the information in a different form, not a different tongue.
-
Written translation
Into the languages your population actually uses, agreed with you at the outset rather than assumed.
-
Easy Read
Produced to Easy Read conventions – short sentences, one idea at a time, supporting images – not a simplified paragraph.
-
Read Aloud audio
For patients who do not read comfortably in any language, including those with low literacy or sight loss.
-
British and American Sign Language
Signed video produced with d/Deaf communities. BSL and ASL are distinct languages, and written English is not a substitute for either.
How it is assured
The same process that governs the clinical content inside our platform, applied to your documents. It is built for healthcare material, where a mistranslated instruction is a patient safety issue rather than a typographical one.
- 01
Source first
We start from your approved source and confirm its meaning with you. An ambiguity in the original becomes an error in every language, so it is settled before translation begins.
- 02
Terminology, reused
Clinical terms you have already had assured are applied consistently across everything we produce for you. The second document costs less than the first, and reads the same.
- 03
Prepared and checked
Linguistic expertise, approved terminology, technology-assisted analysis and targeted human and clinical review, weighted to the clinical consequence of an error.
- 04
Versioned and correctable
Every output is dated, versioned and owned. When your source changes, the translations are updated rather than quietly left behind.
We share our translation safety and quality policy with customers.
Cost and turnaround
Quoted per job, before you commit
You get scope, formats, timescale and cost in writing, and nothing starts until you approve it. No minimum spend and no retainer.
Because approved terminology and previously assured content are reused across your account, repeat and related work costs less than the first job rather than the same again.
Timescales we will hold to
Turnaround depends on volume, language count and format – signed video takes longer than written text, and we will not pretend otherwise. We give you a date with the quote and tell you early if anything threatens it.
If a piece of material would be better rewritten than translated, we will tell you that instead of quoting for it.
Already license CardMedic?
Translated material can be published into your CardMedic library as well as supplied as files, so staff reach it at the point of care rather than hunting for a PDF on the intranet. The terminology assured for your documents is then the same terminology used in the app.
Not a licence holder? That is fine – translation is available on its own. See what the platform does if you want the wider picture.

Tell us what needs translating.
Send us the material and the languages you need. We will come back with scope, formats, timescale and cost. If a document is not worth translating, we will say so.
Thank you – your translation request has been received.
We will acknowledge it immediately and come back with scope, formats, timescale and cost. Please do not send patient-identifiable information through this form.
